Chapter 11 - Victoria Refuses the Money

The court recognized Victoria’s claim.
After adjustments and litigation, she was entitled to approximately twenty-two million dollars from assets traceable to Charles’s old estate.
Then she shocked everyone.
She refused direct payment.
Instead, she asked that the settlement create a foundation in Sophie’s name.
For children with congenital heart disease.
I suspected manipulation.
Maybe it was.
The board would be independent.
Victoria would control nothing.
So I agreed.
The Sophie Monroe Heart Foundation was formed.
Claire’s estate contributed too.
For the first time, something born from Charles Monroe’s cowardice helped children instead of dividing daughters.
It did not erase the pool.
