Chapter 10 - The Other Inheritance

Samuel completed a full review of Charles Monroe’s estate.
The result surprised everyone.
Victoria had indeed been cheated.
Not out of Lily’s trust.
But out of a separate trust Charles created for her at age nine.
He later revoked it under pressure from Claire’s mother.
Possibly unlawfully.
If enforced properly, it would be worth around thirty million dollars today.
I read the findings twice.
My first instinct was to fight.
Then I read Claire’s letter again.
If you ever have the power to correct the part of Victoria’s story that was stolen from her, do it without sacrificing our daughter.
So I agreed to support independent review.
Samuel stared at me.
“You know this could give Victoria millions.”
“Yes.”
“After what she did?”
“What belongs to Lily stays Lily’s.”
“What should have belonged to Victoria should not become Lily’s shield.”
