Chapter 21 - VINCENT COMES HOME

Vincent completed his sentence years later.
Not early miracle.
Ordinary supervised release.
Professional restrictions.
No return to certain positions.
He lived in a condominium instead of the Moretti estate.
Marcus had retired.
That amused me.
“Who protects you now?”
“Door locks.”
“Growth.”
Vincent laughed.
We had dinner.
Tacos.
Always tacos now.
He asked:
“Do you consider me family?”
I thought.
“Yes.”
His eyes changed.
“Don’t make it weird.”
“Too late.”
Then:
“You’re still scary.”
“I’m forty-nine.”
“Old scary.”
He threw a napkin.
No violence.
May you like
No threat.
Just siblings learning a ridiculous normality neither expected.
