Chapter 9 - The New Queen of SolmereThree days later, the morning sun rose over Manhattan, bathing the Solmere Hotel in a brilliant golden glow.

The corporate restructuring was already complete. The board of directors had held an emergency emergency session at dawn, unanimously ratifying my appointment as Chairwoman and Chief Executive Officer of the Solmere Corporation. Arthur, Victoria, and Julian were sitting in federal holding cells awaiting arraignment with zero chance of bail.

I stood on the seventy-fifth-floor balcony, wearing a tailored charcoal-gray pantsuit, my hands now cleanly bandaged in fine silk wraps. The raw cuts were healing, replaced by hardened skin and unshakeable resilience.

My phone buzzed on the glass table behind me.

An email notification popped up: From: New York Supreme Court. Subject: Final Judgment & Asset Restitution.

Every single dollar Arthur and Julian had stolen had been legally frozen and repatriated back into the Solmere corporate accounts. The empire was officially mine—clean, secure, and untouchable.

Footsteps echoed softly behind me on the hardwood floor.

I turned around.

Mr. Henderson stood at the doorway of the balcony, holding a silver tray bearing a single cup of black coffee and a fresh stack of corporate acquisition folders.

"Good morning, Ms. Vale," Henderson said, offering a respectful, genuine bow. "The board is waiting for you in the main conference room for your inaugural address. The international press is downstairs in the lobby."

I picked up the cup of coffee, taking a slow sip. The bitter, rich taste grounded me, reminding me of where I had started and where I stood now.

"Tell them I'll be down in five minutes, Henderson," I said, my voice echoing with quiet authority over the roaring pulse of the city below.

"Yes, Madam Chairwoman."

He turned and walked away, leaving me alone with the Manhattan skyline stretching out endlessly before me.

They thought they could break me. They thought a simple tank top, scraped hands, and a bruised face meant I was defeated. They never realized that when you back a true heir into a corner, she doesn't surrender—she builds a throne out of the ashes.

And the Solmere Empire would never bow to anyone ever again.
