Chapter 14 - The Fall of the Rinaldi Traitors-14

The grand chapel was reduced to a terrifying, pin-drop silence. The wedding guests—most of whom were high-ranking underworld bosses, corrupt politicians, and opportunistic associates—sat frozen in their pews, too terrified to even breathe. They had witnessed the absolute destruction of the Rinaldi syndicate's inner circle in less than three minutes.

Massimo Rinaldi walked slowly down the marble steps of the altar, his stride strong, steady, and completely unhindered. The synthetic neurotoxin still burned faintly in his veins, but the sheer force of his willpower completely overpowered it.

He stopped directly in front of Camille Ashwood, who had collapsed onto the floor against the white orchid pillars, her expensive wedding dress stained with dust, her makeup smeared with tears of rage and panic.

"You wanted my empire, Camille," Massimo said softly, looking down at her with a gaze colder than winter ice. "You wanted the wealth, the power, the name, and the blood of the Rinaldi family. But you forgot one fundamental rule of the underworld: never trust a snake until you've cut off its head."

Camille shook her head frantically, her hands trembling as she clutched the fabric of her ruined dress. "Massimo... please! I was just following Dean! He forced me into it! We can still—"

"Take her to the holding cells," Massimo commanded without raising his voice, cutting her off instantly. Two guards stepped forward, grabbing Camille roughly by the arms and hoisting her to her feet as she screamed curses and threats into the vaulted air, dragging her away toward the service exit.

Dr. Julian Hale was hauled up next, his face gray with sheer terror as he begged for his life, offering to testify against every corrupt pharmaceutical contact he had in Manhattan.

"Lock him in the medical wing," Massimo ordered coldly. "Let him taste his own medicine, drop by micro-drop, until he tells us every name connected to this conspiracy."

The remaining capos seated in the pews immediately stood up and bowed their heads in absolute, unquestioning submission. The king had returned to his throne, stronger, sharper, and more merciless than ever before.

Massimo turned away from the altar and walked down the central aisle. The terrifying aura of a wounded animal was gone; in its place stood an absolute sovereign who had crawled back from the dead to reclaim his kingdom.

Waiting at the end of the aisle were Carla and little Nina.

Carla looked up at him with tear-filled eyes, bowing her head respectfully. "Thank you, Mr. Rinaldi. For everything."

Massimo stopped right in front of them. The cold, intimidating mafia boss vanished in an instant, replaced by a deep, genuine warmth as he knelt down on one knee until he was eye-level with the three-year-old child who had saved his life.

"You kept your promise, little doctor," Massimo whispered, a rare, gentle smile breaking across his chiseled face as he gently tapped Nina on the tip of her nose.

Nina giggled, her dimples deepening as she wrapped her tiny arms around his neck in a fierce, innocent hug. "I told you your feet were only sleeping, Uncle Massimo. They’re finally awake."
