Two weeks later, a man in a cheap gray suit walked into the diner and handed Hannah a manila envelope.
"Hannah Carter?" he asked.
"Yes," she replied, wiping her hands on her apron.
"You've been subpoenaed by the State of Illinois," the man said, turning and walking out the door.
Hannah opened the envelope, her face paling slightly. I walked up beside her, reading the document over her shoulder. It wasn't for the divorce. It was a summons to testify in Grant's federal fraud trial.
"They need me to verify the dates on the shipping manifests," Hannah whispered. "Because I was the one who sorted the mail at the house. I saw the invoices from the Indiana industrial farms."
"Are you okay with this?" I asked, placing a hand on her shoulder. "If you can't face him, I will have Arthur fight the subpoena."

Hannah looked at the paper, then crumpled it slightly in her fist. "No. I'm going. I want to look him in the eye when I put the final nail in his coffin."
